The Founder

Melody Pang. W. E – Artist & Founder of Dreamer Haven Art Cafe

“I started Dreamer Haven with a small dream: To create a place where people could slow down, have a cup of coffee, meet someone new, make something, share stories, or simply find a quiet corner to rest in line with the slogan “A Safe Place for Dreamers to Create Their Dreams.”

Over time, I realised that what I was building was not just a café. It was a community. Dreamer Haven has become a space where my practice as an artist and my desire to connect with people can exist together.

Now, as I continue my Master of Fine Arts at USM, I am also learning to see Dreamer Haven differently not only as a café, but as an extension of my creative journey and a space where art can exist within everyday life. I hope to continue growing this little haven not only as a business, but as a space that gives something back to the creative and local community.”

Melody Pang. W. E, is an artist and the founder of Dreamer Haven Art Cafe in Georgetown, Penang. Her creative practice focuses primarily on painting and explores everyday experiences, memories, emotions, quiet moments, and the relationship between people and their surroundings.

With a background in Bachelor Degree Communication (Journalism), Melody approaches her work from both creative and community-oriented perspectives. Her communication background has shaped her interest in storytelling and human connection, while her artistic practice allows her to explore emotions and experiences through visual expression.

Melody is currently pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) in Fine Arts (Studio Practice) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), further developing her artistic practice and research alongside her work at Dreamer Haven. Her postgraduate studies have also encouraged her to reflect more deeply on the role of painting, emotional communication, and the relationship between artworks and their viewers.

Dreamer Haven Art Cafe grew from Melody’s belief that art does not have to be confined to galleries or formal art spaces. A café can also become a place where people encounter artworks, discover artists, participate in creative activities, and form meaningful connections.

Over the past three years, she has developed Dreamer Haven into an artist-led space that brings together café culture, visual art, creative activities, and community gatherings. Through initiatives such as Dreamers Art Pop-Up, art workshops, exhibitions, and Hey, Let’s Gather – Social & Hobbies Club, she continues to create opportunities for artists and members of the community to participate, collaborate, and connect.

Her involvement also extends to community-oriented art collaborations, including projects supporting Cats of Penang, where art is used as a way to raise awareness and contribute to animal welfare efforts. As a venue partner with Open Studios Penang, Melody also contributes Dreamer Haven as an independent creative space within the wider local arts ecosystem, supporting opportunities for artists and the public to engage with art outside conventional gallery settings.

As she continues her postgraduate studies and develops her own art practice, Melody hopes to allow Dreamer Haven to grow alongside her artistic journey: Creating a sustainable space where art, creativity, community, and everyday life can coexist naturally.
